Introduction to Embryo Donation and Adoption Course

There is no cost to view this material or obtain CME credits. However, it is required to complete the Continuing Education Participant Evaluation Form at the end of each of the courses if a transcript or attendance certificate is needed.
The purpose of this educational course and CME activity is increase the awareness and educate the public about embryo donation and adoption, specifically to teach healthcare personnel concerning frozen embryo donation and adoption, and thereby increase general education and knowledge of these topics for patients.
At the conclusion of the CME activity, the participant is expected to have a general comprehension of the overall issues and procedures involved in and the general process involved in frozen embryo donation and adoption.
The content of this CME activity will include a general overview of embryo donation and adoption, and then more specific education and information regarding the background and opportunities for embryo donation, and the procedures and processes involved in embryo adoption. There will be information regarding organizations that can assist physician and patients in facilitating embryo donation and adoption, and sources to go to obtain more information.
The target audience for this CME activity includes all healthcare providers, including but not limited to all specialties of physicians and nurses involved in providing care in fertility clinics, obstetrics and gynecology, general practice, family medicine, and other various medical clinical settings.
The type of activity provided begins with a pre-test, and answers, followed by an online reading activity which is followed by a post-test. Participants will view the content materials through an online format. Upon completion, the individual is required to complete a Continuing Education Participant Education Form at the end of each course, which evaluates the CME activity and confirms participation in the activity to receive a transcript.

Bradley G. Beck, MD, MS
Consultant to the National Embryo Donation Center
Dr. Brad Beck is a physician who is Board Certified in both Aerospace Medicine and Emergency Medicine. He has served in various administrative and clinical roles in private practice, ministries, academics, and business. He was a flight surgeon for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and served as a Crew Surgeon for over 11 Space Shuttle missions in the late 1990s. He then served as staff physician at American Airlines, and as the Director of University Health Services at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He was the Medical Issues Advisor at Focus on the Family for nine years, working with the medical advisory board Physicians Resource Council, and writing, reviewing, and editing medical information and content for the ministry. He is currently practices occupational medicine part time, and works as Chief Operating Officer of Ransomed Heart Ministries in Colorado Springs.

Jeffrey Keenan. MD
Medical Director, National Embryo Donation Center
Dr. Jeffrey Keenan, a highly respected specialist in infertility and reproductive medicine, leads the NEDC team. He is the Center's medical director and a fertility specialist at the Southeastern Fertility Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He is an associate professor at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, and is the director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Keenan graduated with honors from Jefferson Medical College, completed an internship at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee and fellowship at Hutzel Hospital/Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Christian Medical & Dental Association. He has been in practice since 1990 and has performed innumerable fertility procedures with outstanding success rates.
